Imam Bayhaqi narrates from his sanad from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet said : Act upon whatever is ascribed to you in the book of Allah, there is no excuse for anyone to leave it. (If it is not ascribed in Quran) act on my sunnah. If it is not found in my sunnah then on the statements of my companions. Indeed my companions are like the stars of the sky. Whomsoever you follow, you will be guided. Difference of opinions of my companions is blessing for you.

The news given by the Prophet about development of different schools of jurisprudence after him in the legal issues. It is from the miracles of the Prophet as it is a news regarding unseen. His contentment with it, his tacit approval and appreciation about it that he called it a blessings and

Umar bin Abdul Azeez bin Imran bin Miqlas al-Khuzayi
Ibn Yunus states in Tarikh Mis'r : He was among the senior Maliki scholars, When Imam Shafayi came to egypt, he enjoined him and learnt his school of knowledge.
Imam Abu Soor Ibrahim bin Khalid al-Baghdadi was a hanafi. He followed Imam Shafayi when he came to baghdad. He read his books and transmitted his knowledge. al-Sanawi has mentioned him.
Muhammed bin Abdullah bin Abdul Hakam used to follow school of Imam Malik. when Imam Shafayi came to baghdad he changed to school of Imam Shafayi.
His son said :<>
Abu Ja'afar Muhammed bin Ahmad bin Nas'r at-Tirmizi, the head of Shafayi scholars in Iraq, as stated by Asnawi in Tabqaat, was Hanafi initially. He went to Hajj and observed something which made him change to Shafayi mazhab. He learnt fiqh from Rab'ee and other companions of Imam Shafayi. He died in 592H.
Abu Ja'afar Tahtawi was Shafayi. He learnt fiqh under his uncle al-Muzni. He later changed to hanafi mazhab.
al-Khateeb al-Baghdadi al-Mashhoor was initially hambali then changed to shafayi mazhab, as stated by Ibn Kaseer in Tareekh.
Ibn Burhaan Abul Fattah, one of the scholar of Fiqh and Usool, was initially hambali an later changed to shafayi mazhab. Asnawi cited him in Tabqaat.
Similarly, Abu Muzaffar al-Mansoor bin Muhammed Sam'aani was Maliki and later changed to shafayi mazhab.
Ibn Faras, author of al-mujmal in lughat, was shafayi, like his father, and later changed to maliki mazhab.
Sayfuddin al-Aamadi al-Usooli al-Mashhoor: Asnawi says: he was initially hambali and later moved to Shafayi mazhab.
Najmuddin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Khalaf al-Muqaddisi, famous as 'Hambali': Asnawi writes in Tabqaat: He was initially Hambali. He learnt fiqh from Shaykh Mauqafuddin and taught at madarsa of Abi Umar, and changed to shafayi mazhab. His honor and fame rose high.He died in 830H and has written many excellent books.
al-Wajeeh ibn al-Dahaan al-Nahwi: He was hambali then changed to hanafi mazhab as khalifa required a hanafi grammar teacher to teach his son. He later change to Shayafi mazhab as teaching arabic grammar at madarsa nizamiyah was always only by Shafayi scholar.
Taqiyuddin bin Daqeeq al-E'id: He was initially Maliki like his father and later changed to Shafayi mazhab.
Qazi ul-Quza'a Jamaluddin Yusuf bin Ibraheem al-Dimashqi : He was Hambali and later changed to Shafayi mazhab. He died in 738H.
Abu Hayyan : He initially followed Zahiri Mazhab and later changed to Shafayi mazhab.
